Troubleshooting

What the common messages mean and what to do about them.

A canvas is taking a long time

Most canvases take 20–90 seconds. Free OpenRouter models can take several minutes when they are busy, and Canvex moves to another free model when one fails, which adds time. A paid provider is faster and steadier. You can always choose Stop and go back: the canvas is still saved when it arrives.

"The key was not accepted"

The key is wrong, revoked, or belongs to a different provider than the one selected. Copy it again from the provider and check the provider picker.

"No credit" or "quota"

The provider account has no credit left, or the free daily allowance is used up. Add credit with the provider, wait for the allowance to reset, or switch provider. A ChatGPT or Claude subscription does not include API credit.

A block says it received no content

The model's answer ended before that block. Generate the canvas again, or fill the block yourself with +. Paid providers rarely do this.

My canvases disappeared

Signed-out canvases live in the browser that made them. If the browser's data was cleared they cannot be recovered from Canvex. Sign in to keep them in your account from now on, and export JSON or the whole-idea zip of anything important.
